Performed live in one take during a gallery open day in Gary’s photographic studio/gallery in Mount Victoria, Blue Mountains. A traditional analog sequencer based impro with downward chordal progressions. The Electron Analog 4 is used for two sequences, main bass and lead with strings, the Roland System 1 for pad and various sequences, the strings are from the Warm Pad preset on Ensoniq MR Rack and finally the Kaoss Pro for leads and analog colouration. At full instrumentation there are six sync’d sequences. The audio has been mastered through Izotrope Ozone.

A series of meditative pieces based on positive life traits and their associated Greek mythological spirits. The pieces are gently improvised as two live performances. The first is the background cinematic layer performed in one take on a full octave weighted keyboard linked to a Spectrasonics Omnisphere, ambient or pad sound. The second is a one take performance over this soundscape on an Akai Ewi 4000 self contained electronic wind instrument (looks a little like a Soprano sax) which has many different sounds across the tracks.
The visuals on the accompanying videos are from a fractal based real time, synchronised visualisation program called G-Force Platinum by SoundSpectrum Inc: captured by SnapzPro and re-sync’d to the master audio.
All the tracks have a subliminal background of an Australian dawn chorus, recorded at Gary’s Wentworth Falls house in October (Australian Spring). There a many birds including Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Magpie, Rozellas, Australian Parrots, Kookaburras and a constant sound of three local Lyre birds scraping around the ground and imitating all the birds above.
We hope you find the pieces relaxing but also powerful and inspiring. There will be more albums like this to come and keep an eye on Gary’s music and photography site at http://garyphayes.com for developments.
Recorded 15-30 October 2014 in three sessions only at Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains, Australia

Overlooking the Ayung river on my room balcony one of a few improvisations in-between scooter photo trips & other usual holiday activities – rather rough 1st or 2nd takes and a lot Tangerine Dream’esque, Cm mood. With live recorded natural sound and some superimposed shots on my GoPro helmet cam, used for other projects too.
Technically – the Micron is playing only the pad sound, while the A4 is being midi triggered individually across its 4 sequence tracks. The sounds were quickly prepared before the take from init tones and adjusted ocassionally during the take…

Overlooking the Ayung river on my room balcony, another improvisation in-between scooter photo trips & other usual holiday activities – rather rough 1st or 2nd takes, this one is a F# major pentatonic (all the black notes) with a subtle asian feel :). With live recorded natural sound and some superimposed shots on my GoPro helmet cam from various photo bike tours around Bali, used for other projects too.
