CONTAMINATION: Elektron Analog Four mk2. Out-Dawless Jam Impro Kew-Y-Ahn #quarantune #syntholation

A spiritual meeting place of the Gundungurra people who have lived in the area for 14 000 years, I wanted to do a piece in the area that both reflects the current virus situation (I like millions around the world, am in effective quarantine – allowed out to natural areas of course away from other people) and also the sense of ‘contamination’ of invaders moving across the landscape here from overseas into Australia back in the early 1800s. The off beat E note in the rhythm fights with the Cm chords in the opening, the natural major meeting the invading minor. This is a significant spot as some historians said it is where a big meeting took place between the indigenous people and the Europeans who had just traversed the Blue Mountains… and apparently Kew-Y-Ahn means roughly, ‘go back to where you come from’… Continuous improvisation from an initialised state Elektron Analog Four mk2 Outdoor Jam Composed & Performed © Gary P Hayes Kew-Y-Ahn Rocks Hartley Blue Mountains Australia recorded on #ZoomH6 no other processing Filmed & Performed at Key-Y-Ahn granite Tor Drone video (filmed afterwards) by Gary P Hayes. TEARS OF FIRE: Dawless Jam AnalogFour Mk2 Arturia Microfreak Australia Bushfires #Jamuary2020 Day 8

Australian Bushfire Photography 2019/20 © Gary P Hayes – these are images I took close to home as several fire fronts came so close to home that we had to evacuate – given our home is in a very bad location (forest & escarpment). Luckily the 520 000 and 300 000 hectare Gospers and Green Wattle fires are almost out but Erskine’s Creek fire is still threatening the Blue Mtns city as I write this. This simple thematic piece is inspired by a range of emotions around the destruction of natural habitat, animals and homes and lives. DONATE TO THE RFS here https://quickweb.westpac.com.au/Onlin… Please note I was affected by the Australia fires in mid December meaning we evacuated mid to late December because the largest fire in Australia’s history, Gospers, got within 2km of our house after two months of smoke and alerts. Continuous Live Dawless Jam / Performance – Composed & Performed © Gary P Hayes in the Blue Mountains Australia on Elektron #AnalogFour Mk2 & Arturia #MicroFreak recorded on #ZoomH6 no other processing

“FAREWELL PLANET ONE” classical guitar and piano impro

“FAREWELL PLANET ONE” a classical guitar & piano impro this morning – with only one, hardly noticeable bum note!

A track from my music album this year, ‘Garden of Stone’, a mix of ‘outside the box’ analog synth setup, melancholic guitar, chilled electronica, harp, Akai EWI electronic wind instrument and other acoustic elements such as piano and clarinet.

Improvisational odes to a dying world, naturally and socially, reflective, it’s been good well it lasted folks… longer versions of some of the tracks at garyphayes.com –

Oh and a misplaced hammer will do that to your left hand fingernail – a few more weeks to fully replace itself 🙂

Unchartered: Asgard Head – Live Jam/Impro Analog Outside the Box

A live improvisation in Dm in my photo gallery on Sunday 28 August 2016. The piece had minimal setup beforehand and I was just winging it really while people browsed my photos 🙂 – a couple asked for the album!

THE ETERNAL RAIN ~ Analog Electronica 40 minute Jam / Improv

Performed live in one take during a gallery open day in Gary’s photographic studio/gallery in Mount Victoria, Blue Mountains. A traditional analog sequencer based impro with downward chordal progressions. The Electron Analog 4 is used for two sequences, main bass and lead with strings, the Roland System 1 for pad and various sequences, the strings are from the Warm Pad preset on Ensoniq MR Rack and finally the Kaoss Pro for leads and analog colouration. At full instrumentation there are six sync’d sequences. The audio has been mastered through Izotrope Ozone.
